The Job Role

As a Laboratory Technician, you'll play a key role in ensuring our fasteners meet the highest quality and compliance standards. Working in our ISO 17025 UKAS-accredited laboratory, you’ll prepare test samples, perform mechanical and metallurgical tests, and generate reports that support product certification and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

The duties listed below are not in order of priority or importance and are not intended to restrict or prioritise the activities of the working day:

• Follow lab procedures in line with an ISO 17025 UKAS-accredited Laboratory Management System.
• Review and identify incoming test requirements; prioritise according to customer deadlines.
• Prepare samples for testing, including cutting, polishing, and grinding.
• Perform tests including (but not limited to): tensile, Charpy impact, hardness, decarburization, microstructure, grain size, and inclusion evaluation.
• Conduct all testing to in-house procedures and ASTM/ISO standards.
• Accurately compile test results into formal laboratory reports.
• Work independently to manage workload and complete tasks to schedule.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards within the lab.
• Comply with all health, safety, and environmental procedures and report risks as appropriate.
• Participate in training programs to support continuous development.
• Carry out other duties as required within the scope of the role.
