The Job Role

As a Saw Setter / Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating saws and other machinery to cut materials accurately and efficiently in line with production requirements. You will help maintain productivity, quality and traceability while ensuring materials are correctly processed for customer orders and the machine shop. You will also be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment and reporting any equipment issues promptly. This role contributes to the operational effectiveness and strategic objectives of CTB Group, while acting in alignment with the company values of Safety, Team Work, Accountability, Respect, and Trust (START).

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate and uphold our S.T.A.R.T Values at all times and across all areas of the business.
• Maintain productivity and traceability, ensuring material counts are accurate.
• Saw materials of various grades and sizes into the required cut lengths for processing into customer orders.
• Work in line with the production programme issued by the Engineering Manager.
• Keep saws and the sawing and studding areas clean, tidy and well maintained.
• Report any faults with saws or other equipment promptly to your Supervisor and liaise with them regarding any required spare parts.
• Complete any training required to support the safe and efficient performance of your duties and your ongoing development.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
• Cut billets of bar to the required specifications for the machine shop.
• Take a responsible approach to health, safety and environmental risks associated with your role, taking appropriate action to control risks or reporting them to management.
