We were challenged by several customers to reduce the maintenance required for offshore wind tower flange bolted connections

  • We helped develop a new high performing fastener specification for offshore wind encompassing CTB industry leading surface coating
  • The specification achieved both DNV and DIBt certification for offshore applications
  • Significant investment was made at our UK manufacturing facility to produce high volumes large diameter (M36-M72) safety critical fasteners to meet the market demand
  • We are currently supplying 2 offshore projects in European water for over 130 turbines (1000 metric tonnes of stud assemblies M36 to M72) complete with clamp load measuring system

Project Details

The Baltic Power Offshore Wind Farm is a significant renewable energy initiative situated approximately 23 kilometres off the Polish Baltic Sea coast, near Łeba and Choczewo. Developed as a joint venture between PKN ORLEN and Northland Power, the project encompasses 76 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 15 MW, culminating in a total installed capacity of up to 1.2 GW. Spanning an area of about 130 square kilometres, the wind farm is poised to supply clean electricity to over 1.5 million households upon its expected commissioning in 2026.

Project Implementation

Cooper Turner Beck has been at the forefront of supporting the Baltic Power Offshore Wind Farm, working closely with project partners to raise the bar for fastener technology in offshore wind. Responding to the sector’s evolving requirements, CTB helped develop a new high-performance fastener specification specifically engineered for the demands of marine environments. This specification incorporates CTB’s advanced surface coating, which provides robust protection against corrosion and wear, an essential factor in the challenging conditions of the Baltic Sea.

A testament to its technical rigour, the new specification secured both DNV and DIBt certification for offshore applications, offering reassurance to project stakeholders and supply chain partners alike. Achieving these internationally recognised standards demonstrates CTB’s commitment to delivering safety-critical components that meet, and often exceed, the industry’s highest benchmarks.

To meet growing market demand, CTB invested significantly in its UK manufacturing facility, expanding capabilities to produce large-diameter fasteners up to M100 at high volume. This investment was instrumental in fulfilling supply for two major offshore wind projects in European waters, including Baltic Power. Across these projects, CTB is delivering approximately 1,000 metric tonnes of stud assemblies, all supplied with integrated clamp load measuring systems to guarantee installation accuracy and long-term asset performance.

Project Outcome

With the Baltic Power project still underway, Cooper Turner Beck continues to play a vital role in maintaining programme momentum and quality standards. Our reliable, certified fastening solutions are supporting efficient installation as the build progresses, while consistent on-time delivery helps keep the schedule on course. The collaborative approach between CTB and project partners ensures that challenges are addressed promptly, enabling all teams to remain focused on delivery and operational excellence. As work continues, CTB remains a trusted partner, fully engaged in supporting Baltic Power’s ambitions for reliability, safety, and long-term performance.
